Vino in the Valley Vineyard

Five acres of vines

About

Since our vineyard is not yet producing, Vino in the Valley purchases regionally grown grapes from local growers through the Minnesota Winegrower’s Cooperative.

Vino in the Valley Vineyard

The vineyard is five acres of vines, which are planted adjacent to the beautiful Rush River.
Six varieties of grapes were chosen, based on their ability to thrive in the western Wisconsin climate.  Vino in the Valley wine will eventually be produced from the vineyard harvests.  Vines planted include three red –Frontenac, Sabrevois, Marquette – and three white – Frontenac Gris, La Crescent, and Prairie Star.

Since our vineyard is not yet producing, Vino in the Valley purchases regionally grown grapes from local growers through the Minnesota Winegrower’s Cooperative.  We have contracted with Cannon River Winery to create three types of wines for the Vino in the Valley private label: white, blush and red.

Our private label white wine is named Moonlight Whisper, named after the way the moon glimmers on hazy valley nights.  Moonlight Whisper is 100% La Crescent Grapes.  This wine is considered semi-sweet and is a great dinner wine.  It’s a wonderful accompaniment to any creamy pasta dish (like our Shrimp Linguini), although you really must try it with something salty to fully appreciate it (it’s great with our Prosciutto Salad).

Vino in the Valley’s blush is called Lost Creek Sunset.  The inspiration for this name comes from the short time in summer when the sun slides down the side of the valley and into Lost Creek as it sets…absolutely beautiful!  This wine is made from a blend of three grapes: La Crescent, Edelweiss, and a touch of Frontenac to give it that blush color.  Blush wines, like White Zinfandel, are an American favorite, and our Lost Creek Sunset will please lovers of this classic.  We serve it chilled and you’ll find it especially refreshing on a hot, sunny day.

Vino’s red is named Rush River Red.  The Rush River borders the vineyard to the west, thus the name, and this wine is made from 100% Sabrevois grapes.  Sabrevois grapes produce a medium bodied complex red wine with good tannins.  It’s a versatile red that is fabulous for sipping or paired with a traditional red pasta dish (like our Spaghetti and Meatballs) or try a bottle at home with a grilled burger or pizza!
