Our Sunday Buffet Is Back!

Vino-Sunday BuffetWe often receive requests from our guests to bring back our famous Sunday Buffet. We had no idea you loved it so much!

Since we always do our best to listen to our guests and accommodate their requests whenever we can, when the opportunity presented itself this past weekend, we made the decision to offer the buffet on Sunday now through the end of our summer season (September 27).

It was an Italian extravaganza; bigger and better than ever! We offered a variety of salad fixings and pasta dishes and allowed our Sunday guests to build the plate of their dreams. Our brick oven pizzas and gluten-free entrees were still available for those who preferred to go that route.

How did it go, you ask? Well, after all the rave reviews, and a little begging on behalf of our customers, we’ve decided to bring back the Sunday Buffet until further notice! $19 for adults, $9 for kids 5-12, and 4 and under free.

And, as an added bonus during the month of August, on Sundays from 2:00-4:00pm we’ll be offering a bottle of our house wine at half-price with the purchase of a meal. The reason for this Sunday special is simply because… Sundays ARE special at Vino in the Valley. Learn more here.

We look forward to your visit on a Sunday soon. As always, be sure to follow our Facebook page to be the first to hear the latest news, specials, menu updates and announcements!

New After-dinner Dessert Drink Launches this Weekend

Vino in the Valley - Not Your Father's Root Beer FloatWe’re launching a new after-dinner dessert drink this weekend! Ask for one of our “Not Your Father’s Root Beer Floats” made with real Wisconsin-dairy ice cream from our friends at Flat Pennies Ice Cream.

The Not Your Father’s Root Beer is crafted by Small Town Brewery in La Crosse, WI. We first checked them out online, “At 10% ABV, the silky, smooth and satisfying finish is unmatched in flavor. It appeals to craft beer aficionados as well as those who don’t typically drink beer but crave something unique.” Could it be true?

At first sip we couldn’t help but recall fond childhood memories of the root beer floats at the long gone Ellsworth Milk Store (remember that little place down in East Ellsworth back in the day?)! We immediately understood why they achieved a 95 rating from Beer Advocate and are gaining popularity at Chicagoland bars! We didn’t want to be left out!

So we concocted a root beer float experiment and ran the dessert through a trial run last weekend. Not only did they sell out lickety-split, but they received rave reviews on our Facebook page! Rose commented, “Best adult Root Beer around!” and Judy posted, “We stopped today and the Root Beer Float is over the top soooo good!”

I don’t know; they sound like they know what they’re talking about. Only one way to know for sure and that’s to visit us this weekend and try one for yourself. Sounds like we’ll once again have prefect weather for your visit.

Discover Wisconsin Show To Visit Vino in the Valley

Discover Wisconsin at Vino in the ValleyWe have some exciting news to share! The Discover Wisconsin television show will be filming a segment at Vino in the Valley on Saturday, August 8. I guess all those weeks of calling them have finally paid off. Just kidding! They reached out to us and we couldn’t be more excited to host them. They’re the nation’s longest running tourism TV show, and when they called to inquire about a visit we did a couple of cartwheels!

They’ve heard some great things about our place, and wanted to experience the vino, views and vibes first hand. The whole crew, along with host Jake Zimmerman, will be visiting.

We would love to show them the “ultimate” Vino in the Valley good-time, which means packin’ the house! We’ll be operating regular hours (3pm – 10pm) on Saturday, August 8, and would love for you to join us. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to be included in a shot or two! And you better start warming up the ol’ singing voice for “That’s Amore”! I’ll do the same!

As for air dates for this segment, we’ll have to be in touch with you on that one. Once we have those details we’ll be sure to post them on our Facebook page. You are following us there, right?

Join us this Saturday, July 4, for Fireworks!

Fireworks2 2015We’ve got big plans for a great Independence Day at Vino in the Valley this Saturday. Plan to spend the day with us…

Our hours for the holiday. Bella Sera, our patio bar, will open at 1pm, with the Pavilion opening for service at 3pm.

Enjoy live entertainment on the Gazebo stage. Stacie, Russ, and Steve will be here to entertain you throughout the evening. They’re a favorite here at Vino and we’re sure you’ll become an instant fan!

Come for the fireworks. Once again, the fireworks will be conducted by Chad Hines (and in honor of our dear friend, Kenny Hines). He’s pulled out all the stops for us, and will be bringing the latest and greatest in pyrotechnics for your viewing pleasure.

The show will start at dusk so bring your lawn chairs and blankets and watch the fireworks in the vineyard while enjoying a glass of wine or beer. We’ll also be offering brick oven pizzas to go, which you are welcome to enjoy on the grounds. We hope you’ll bring the entire family!

Vino in the Valley Hosts 6th Annual “Taste of Tuscany” Event

11264591_10206541363476515_5493076119783512261_nOnce again we’re thrilled to be hosting the Ellsworth Community School District Foundation’s annual fundraising event, “Taste of Tuscany”. The event, which will be held at Vino in the Valley on Friday, June 5, 2015 supports the Foundation in their mission to enhance educational opportunities within our community using private revenues. In a time of ever-tightening budgets, supporting this great cause has become more important than ever.

Attendees will enjoy the music of Colleen Raye, a wine tasting, silent auction, and of course, great wine and a delicious dinner. Tickets are $35 and available at Vino in the Valley, Ellsworth School District Office, Nilssen’s Foods, and from Foundation board members.

We not only wish to encourage you to purchase your tickets and attend this worthwhile event, but also want to be sure all our guests are aware that due to this event, general seating for the public will not begin until 8:00pm on Friday, June 5. Our outdoor bar, Bella Sera, will be open beginning at 5:00pm if guests would like to come down to enjoy some wine until seating begins. Please spread the word to your friends and neighbors and we look forward to seeing you.

Join us for the 2nd Annual Rush River Folk Festival

RushRiverFolkFestival02-15 FBThe 3-day Memorial Day weekend generally marks the unofficial start of summer. Once again this year we’ll be kicking off the season in a big way, with the 2nd Annual Rush River Folk Festival!

Thanks to music promoter, David Jones, of Davey J & the Jones Tones fame, and his many musical contacts, we were able to pull together six established music acts that will bring a tasty mix of original and vintage folk music to our valley.

On Saturday, May 23, 2015, starting at 1 pm in the afternoon and continuing until sunset, you can enjoy a full day of live performances by established musicians offering a grand mix of sounds and styles of folk music.

Regional folk sensation Heatherlyn returns to center stage to headline the 2015 event. Many will remember her amazing performance at last year’s event! A singer and guitarist from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Heatherlyn is a virtuoso artist who completed her third community-supported CD this past March. The DC features her new songs “All Beings Be Blessed” and “One Heart”, both sure to be hits! Her recent full-length CD, Storydwelling, received excellent reviews and is true to her musical persona, “soulful, rooted, rockin’, guitar-playing singer-song artist, poet and storydwelling traveler.” Heatherlyn’s songs will ring true to any audience as she shares deep parts of her own story to inspire all of us. Check out this preview video to see just why we’re so excited to have her taking part in the festival again!

Also performing is Little Wing, featuring the vocal power of Faith Ulwelling and her accompanist Tim Caswell from Left Wing Bourbon. Yata (originals and folk), Larry Past and Al Julson (folk and acoustic rock), and Kari Tauring (Nordic roots music) along with Davey J (original roots music, blues, and Americana), round out the lineup of performing acts.

Yes, a full eight hours of live outdoor music will be the perfect way to start the long Memorial Day weekend. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket and settle in for an afternoon of music, wine and food. There’s no admission charge; just come and savor the amazing sounds and a glass of wine or a beer on the edge of the beautiful Rush River. If the mood strikes, stay for an Italian dinner under the Pavilion, or order a brick oven pizza to-go and enjoy it on the grounds. Heck, make a weekend of it; you’ll find we have some amazing lodging options here on the West Coast of Wisconsin!

As always, the latest in event updates and announcements can be found on our Facebook page.

Celebrate Mom with Vino in the Valley

Vino in the Valley - Celebrate MomMoms…we love them, and heck, we wouldn’t be here without them. And, as we like to joke, we’re all the reason that they drink. So bring your mom down to Vino in the Valley to celebrate her day in a special way!

Join us Sunday, May 10, from 12 – 6pm (get your reservations in now for group of 10 or more). For Mom we’ve got free flowers, free chair massage, and Free Flat Pennies Ice Cream Dessert! We’ll have wagon rides through the vineyard, and entertainment by local favorites, Colleen Raye and family (Trey, Reed, and maybe Jenny), for all to enjoy!

Sounds like the makings of a great afternoon! Come on down, sip on a glass of wine, and enjoy some great fun and entertainment with Mom. She’ll love you for it!

Open Air Solutions’ Motion Vinyls the Solution for Us!

We love our open air Pavilion here at Vino in the Valley; there’s nothing like enjoying a great meal and a glass of wine while taking in the spectacular views! But our dining arrangements make our guests vulnerable to quickly changing weather conditions. Wind, rain and unseasonably cool temps sometimes put a damper on our guests’ dining experiences, even though we did our best to make everyone comfortable, and they never seemed to let the weather ruin their great time!

Still, we’ve always been on the lookout for just the right solution, and we found it with Open Air Solutions and their Motion Vinyls. New for our 2015 season, we’ll be able to maintain our open air atmosphere, while also offering sun, wind and weather protection for our guests.

With the push of a button we can enclose our eating area should inclement weather roll in. We can also enclose the Pavilion for our Christmas at Vino in the Valley weekends, and keep our guests toasty warm, while still offering a clear view of the winter scenery! We’re so happy with our decision that we partnered with Open Air Solutions on a television commercial. Consider this your first glimpse of our new Pavilion accessory!

We think the commercial turned out pretty great, but you know what seems to be getting all the attention? You guessed it; the blooper reel! If you thought I would be a natural behind the camera I had you all fooled! But not to be outdone, Jeff from Open Air Solutions, made a few mistakes himself. Go ahead, laugh along with us…

We’re pretty excited about our Motion Vinyls from Open Air Solutions. Jeff and his team were extremely efficient with the installation, and the quality of my panels and their work is amazing. I can’t wait to show them off to our guests this season and invite you all to come see them for yourselves!
